NWEA Map Assessment
This year we have adopted the NWEA’s (Northwest Evaluation Association) Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment. It is a computer-based, adaptive assessment that covers reading, math (K-8th), and language usage (2nd-8th). The assessment is taken in the beginning, middle, and end of the year, in order to give us a year-long picture of our students’ growth and performance.
The MAP assessment also gives our teachers an opportunity to cater their instruction to the individual needs of our students through detailed and timely reports. The teachers base instructional and supportive decisions off of classroom observations and reports detailing students’ individual needs and strengths.
The teachers are using this data to plan their instruction based on what our students need. Praise God for the opportunity and freedom to cater our instruction to what our students are ready for at this point in their learning.
